Going into this I had zero idea on what this book was about. I hadn’t read the synopsis, I had just liked the title and liked the cover. But I am so glad that I did. It started out slow in the beginning, there was a bit of plot setup that had to be done, but once the story got going, I was hooked.
I could t put the book down. I finished it in one night. It wasn’t too long of a read, so it was easy to read, but i was so upset when it was over. I can’t wait to read the next part.
I liked the character of Laurent, she wasn’t your average female main character. She was strong and smart in her own right, and took what she could, no matter the consequences. She is definitely the “antagonist” of the story, even though she is the main character. She is not a good person, and does whatever she needs to get her way.
I also liked the black mist entity. It was interesting to read about, and I can’t wait to find out what exactly it is. I also liked how powerful it is, but at the same time it also has limitations to what it can do.
I give this book a 5/5 it was so captivating, and the ending had me on the edge of my metaphorical seat.
I did receive a copy of this book as an ARC.
